Stage 1: Learning Unfamiliar Material

In this section we cover planning and learning new materials. We introduce a strategy for learning unfamiliar material called “Iso-Chunking”.

Your Exercise

1. Find a short passage of music that you would like to learn. This can be a piece of a solo, a section of a song or a melody that you want to learn.

2. Learn the phrase using the strategy of Iso-Chunking
