We teach what would be best described as a non-idiomatic approach to the guitar.
Our focus is on teaching our students the framework of music so that they can express themselves creatively, regardless of style or genre.
Sean is a guitarist based out of the DC area who’s been playing for 10 years when he found GMI and that core philosophy was something he had been searching for.
He had taken some private lessons but was always left feeling that there was a more holistic approach to the guitar rather than just learning random licks and various chord progressions in hopes to putting it all together someday.
Under the mentorship of TJ Whitelaw they were able to set clearly defined goals and create a feedback loop through consistent communication that allowed Sean to truly blossom as a musician.
He’s grown in his understanding of rhythm, harmony, and melodic composition, more importantly he’s cultivated a foundational knowledge of the fretboard that will serve him and his musical expression for the rest of his life.
